Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Nurse Job Description

The Detroit Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Nurse to join our team at the Children's Hospital of Michigan. As a Registered Nurse in our PICU, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care to critically ill children and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care to critically ill children, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs, and develop plans to address these needs.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care transitions.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan.
  • Experience in pediatric critical care nursing, preferably in a PICU setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
