Position Title: Mechanical Engineering Project Specialist

Employment Type: Contract to Hire

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery of engineering designs.
  • Guide and mentor junior Mechanical Engineers and Designers.
  • Lead mechanical design efforts on assigned projects, focusing on machine and assembly design.
  • Ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Facilitate effective communication with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Source necessary subcontractor support and obtain quotations.
  • Deliver mechanical engineering projects within budget and on schedule.
  • Support sales initiatives through presentations and strategy development.
  • Conduct site visits as required.
  • Develop process flow strategies and material handling methods.
  • Utilize best practices in drafting and design reviews.
  • Create technical specifications and identify qualified vendors.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation and manage vendor communications.
  • Oversee project timelines and budgets while addressing customer requirements.
  • Report project progress regularly to stakeholders.
  • Manage the entire design process from conception to manufacturing and installation.
  • Deliver all necessary documentation and as-built drawings to clients.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives based on project performance reviews.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in designing assembly machinery or related automation equipment.
  • Proficient in detailing and drafting, with strong skills in mechanical print preparation.
  • Familiarity with GD&T and the ability to interpret Finite Element Analyses (FEAs).
  • Experience in project cost estimation is advantageous.
  • Strong background in SolidWorks and related design software.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with operations and technical teams.
  • Prior experience in project leadership is a plus.
