About the Role:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Mayo Clinic plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care. As a member of our healthcare team, you will work under the supervision of a registered nurse to provide nursing care to assigned patients. Your responsibilities will include collecting data through observation, communicating information to assist in patient assessment and care planning, and participating in quality improvement projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver care in accordance with patient care plans, policies, and procedures of the organization.
  • Participate as a member of the healthcare team and accept delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor and provider in meeting the needs of the patient/family.
  • Collect data through observation and communicate information to assist the RN and/or provider in patient assessment and care planning.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a school of practical nursing or passed LPN Boards after a defined period in a professional nursing program.
  • One year of LPN experience working in an applicable setting is required if graduation did not occur within the last two years.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to wear lead and to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds is required.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and experience working in a team environment are essential.

License or Certification:

  • Current LPN license by applicable state requirements.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support for healthcare providers - BCLS - certificate of course completion required and must not expire within 3 months after start date.
