Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Office LPN to join our team at Southern Ohio Medical Center. As a Medical Office LPN, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures, and diagnostic testing.
  • Collect and document patient vitals, chief complaints, pain assessment, and past medical history.
  • Perform and maintain other LPN duties related to physician office operations.
  • Conduct monthly inspections of supplies and medications, ensuring expiration dates are met and expired items are disposed of according to policy.
  • Ensure clinical supplies are properly stocked and review charts for next day's appointments.
  • Log and update medication lists for patients and assist with answering phones, scheduling appointments, and scanning.
  • May be asked to provide coverage in other areas of the Foundation offices.
  • Manage patient care in collaboration with other healthcare team members to meet patient needs.
  • Pre-clean, decontaminate, and transport contaminated instruments according to policy.
  • Cross-train to perform Medical Office Assistant duties and follow vaccine and medication management policy.
  • Perform document import daily and review and handle ERX requests with provider direction.
  • Contact insurance companies to obtain necessary authorizations/pre-certs.
  • Perform intermediate-level disinfection and/or high-level disinfection per manufacturer instructions.
  • Follow medical record documentation procedure as detailed in the MCF Documentation Assistant policy.
  • Assist providers in navigating the medical record and present during clinical services, documenting everything said during the service.
  • Conduct daily check-offs for AED and weekly check-offs on equipment per department policy.
  • Conduct monthly check-offs for eye wash and ensure patient care areas are cleaned after each patient visit per SOMC guidelines.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required.
  • Licensed to practice as an LPN (applicable to state) required.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire.
  • One to three months of experience preferred.
