Role Overview

The role of the First Line Risk Manager is crucial in embedding specialized risk and control professionals within the First Line Units. These professionals will facilitate the fulfillment of the First Line Unit responsibilities outlined in the Risk Management Framework, enhance risk awareness, and disseminate best practices in controls among Banking Operations colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct self-assessments across relevant risk categories to identify and evaluate current and emerging risks.
  • Self-identify and report any deficiencies in controls.
  • Oversee issue remediation with adequate evidence for closure.
  • Manage and monitor risk metrics pertinent to the line of business.
  • Document and report risk acceptances in relevant risk categories.
  • Facilitate training and communication related to risks and controls.
  • Support control testing initiatives.

Specific Duties

  • Ensure effective execution of the enterprise risk program, including quality assurance and reporting.
  • Enhance Banking Operations' involvement in RCSA, focusing on process definition, control identification, procedural completeness, risk rating, and testing opportunities.
  • Implement robust Issue Management protocols within Banking Operations, ensuring proper documentation, risk rating, and timely mitigation actions.
  • Lead the execution of SOX control programs, ensuring controls are documented, understood, and executed with quality.
  • Participate in the collection and reporting of various risk, control, and performance metrics related to Banking Operations.
  • Conduct thorough testing across a range of applications affecting clients and colleagues, coordinating test activities and communicating results to stakeholders.
  • Perform control testing within Bank Operations to ensure compliance with regulations while delivering a positive client experience.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to develop action plans addressing any identified deficiencies.
  • Assist in preparing reports for senior management and executive committees regarding risk program outcomes and unmitigated risks.
  • Stay informed about business risks, both current and emerging.
  • Provide support for special projects and initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in operational risk management, enterprise risk management, or audit is required; project management and banking experience are preferred.
  • Ability to manage and execute multiple complex projects within established timelines.
  • High level of professionalism with the ability to influence and build relationships across the organization.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar risk and control function across any line of defense.
  • Relevant experience in Consumer or Commercial Banking Operations or related financial services is essential.
  • Experience with SOX testing is a plus.

Compensation

The estimated salary range for this position is $100,000 to $110,000. Actual salary may vary based on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This position is also eligible for incentive compensation.
