Job Summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is a leading social service organization dedicated to serving vulnerable populations. We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Specialist to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate financial documentation and present it to internal and external auditors as required.
  • Document and bill service hours for assigned clients in accordance with LSS Guardianship Options (GO) policy and procedures.
  • Handle all finances associated with client estates, including payment of bills, account reconciliation, and deposit handling.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or two years of related experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or customer service.
  • Required satisfactory completion of National Guardianship Associations Finance Certificate Program after one year of service.
  • Knowledge of accounting packages like Great Plains, QuickBooks, or TurboCash preferred.
  • Financial management experience with asset and investment management preferred.
  • Coordinating skills required to organize and maintain separate financial records for 30 to 60 individual clients.
  • Computer literacy, spreadsheets, word processing, and basic budgeting required.
  • Strong communication skills required to work as a team and present financial information in a conscientious manner.
  • Strong administrative skills needed to monitor financial data and interpret financial policies and procedures.
  • Able to work under pressure and handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.
  • A DHS criminal background check is required.
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail regarding financial tasks.
  • Good planning and organizational skills; able to determine priorities and manage time appropriately.
  • Sound judgement and problem-solving skills required to analyze problems regarding the best interest of clients.
