Aquatic Specialist/Lifeguard

The City of Vacaville, CA is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Aquatic Specialist/Lifeguard to join our team in the Parks and Recreation Department.

We are looking for a qualified individual to provide safety and general welfare of the public at the Walter Graham Aquatic Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for instructing swimming and water fitness courses, performing lifeguard duties, and maintaining facility cleanliness.

• Maintain order and enforce established rules and safety procedures
• Scan designated swim area constantly to ensure patron safety
• Maintain facility cleanliness and perform frequent facility checks
• Perform First Aid and CPR techniques, water rescue and safety procedures
• Instruct and interact with aquatic program participants of all ages
• Perform facility and equipment set-up, take-down, and general housekeeping
• Open and close facilities
• Perform reception, cashiering, cash handling, and recordkeeping duties as required
• Attend mandatory in-service trainings

• Must possess and maintain American Red Cross certifications: Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Title 22 First Aid for Public Safety Personnel
• Desirable certifications: Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or equivalent and Title 22 First Aid for Public Safety Personnel
• Must be at least 15 years of age by time of employment
