Job Summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Lifeguard I to join our team. As an Aquatic Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our patrons while enjoying our aquatic facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor activities and observe swimmers to prevent accidents and ensure a safe environment.
  • Provide assistance to swimmers, enforce regulations, and control access to pools, cabanas, and lockers.
  • Provide first aid and rescue breathing when necessary.
  • Inspect and maintain cleanliness of swimming pool areas, locker rooms, restrooms, and other assigned areas.
  • Maintain records and reports as assigned.
  • Assist with swim lessons and aquatic programs as directed.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and customers in person and over the phone.
  • Exhibit a professional appearance and demeanor while on duty.
Requirements
  • Prior experience as a lifeguard is highly desirable.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and split shifts.
  • Experience working with the public and ability to relate positively with staff, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Meet all health and safety regulations as defined by the Health Department and The Salvation Army.
Physical Requirements
  • Proficient swimming ability and endurance.
  • Ability to properly extract victims from the pool to the deck and lift and carry at least 40 lbs.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, jog, pull, push, balance, reach, and use fingers and hands.
