English Teacher

We are seeking a highly qualified English Teacher to join our team at Hamilton County Department of Education. As a 7th Grade English/Language Arts Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic excellence and personal growth.

• Teaching and Learning
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the Tennessee State English Language Arts Standards.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Utilize data-driven instruction to inform teaching practices and improve student outcomes.
• Classroom Culture
  • Create a safe and productive learning environment that promotes positive relationships and a growth mindset.
  • Establish clear expectations and procedures to ensure student success.
• Family and Community
  • Develop strong relationships with students' families to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Provide opportunities for parents to be involved in their children's learning.
• Professional Responsibilities
  • Participate in professional learning communities to stay current on best practices and improve teaching skills.
  • Contribute to the development of school-wide initiatives and programs.

• Bachelor's degree in English Education or related field.
• Valid Tennessee teaching certification in English/Language Arts 6-8 or English 6-12.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administrators to achieve school goals.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth.

Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience. The Differentiated Compensation Plan may apply to this position.
