Job Overview

Oversee a team of maintenance personnel engaged in upkeep operations to guarantee that production machinery, material handling systems, and building infrastructure are functioning efficiently.
  • Through direct supervision, ensure that plant machinery is maintained in peak operating condition to prevent or reduce production interruptions. Respond promptly to equipment-related production challenges by delegating repair tasks as soon as issues arise.
  • Develop, manage, and implement all aspects of critical spare parts, recycling, and other equipment-related initiatives as designated.
  • Ensure the timely completion of work orders, repairs, and preventive maintenance through maintenance management software and documentation of all maintenance activities.
  • Authorize all parts orders within the approved purchasing limits set by company policy.
  • Equip maintenance staff with the necessary tools and parts to perform their duties effectively.
  • Collaborate with other departments and individuals to efficiently coordinate equipment and facility maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain an orderly and clean Maintenance Shop.
  • Responsible for providing after-hours maintenance support by calling in appropriate staff; personally respond in critical or complex situations.
  • Select, train, and evaluate the performance of skilled maintenance technicians to ensure a diverse range of expertise within the maintenance team.
  • Offer essential guidance, technical assistance, and training to ensure all employees operate safely and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Schedule and assign personnel to ensure coverage for a seven-day-a-week maintenance operation; review, edit, and approve employee time records weekly.
  • Assess individual performance, implement disciplinary actions, provide coaching and feedback, and recommend termination when necessary.
  • Assume certain responsibilities of other management in their absence.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through experience.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the vocational trades, including but not limited to HVAC, Electrical/Electronics, and Mechanical.
  • Two to three years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a production or maintenance environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with employees at all levels, motivating direct reports, mentoring, and identifying development needs.
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously using effective organizational skills and sound judgment in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word for document creation and modification, Excel for data recording and calculations, and Outlook for internal and external communication.
  • Work is typically performed in a manufacturing setting, subject to varying temperatures, with appropriate personal protective equipment required.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, walk, use hands or fingers, talk, hear, and feel objects, tools, or controls; may need to lift up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close vision for computer work.
