Job Summary

Catalent is a global leader in the development and manufacturing of new treatments for patients worldwide. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Development Chemist to join our team in Greenville, N.C. This role requires expertise in pharmaceutical analysis techniques and/or technology, as well as the ability to develop and validate complex methods and serve as a troubleshooting resource within the Analytical Research and Development Division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently perform routine and complex testing for chromatographic and spectrophotometric methods (HPLC, GC, UV) of analysis for excipients, new chemical entities and/or drug products.
  • Serve as a method troubleshooting resource within Analytical Research and Development Division to identify and document critical factors that affect method performance and assists co-workers in resolving method issues in a timely, cost-effective manner.
  • Develop, with some management oversight, a series of tests to provide quality control for drug substances and/or dosage forms.
  • Perform, with some management oversight, investigations into API, DP, and method issues that may arise as part of the drug development process.
  • Design method validation/transfer protocols and conduct validation/transfer experiments, with some management oversight, for drug substances and dosage forms; interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations based on the data.
  • Write and collaborate on protocols, reports, methods and specifications in Master Control, as assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in Biotechnology, Chemistry or equivalent science degree with at least 7 years of professional experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry with emphasis on method development and validation OR Bachelor's degree in a science-related field (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences) with at least 6 years of professional experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry with emphasis on method development and validation OR Master's degree in a science-related field with at least 5 years of professional experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry with emphasis on method development and validation OR PhD in a science-related field with at least 4 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry with emphasis on method development and validation.
  • Has demonstrated expertise and/or is considered an expert in an analytical technique or technology.
  • Proficient in the use of Empower (performs supervisory sign-off for electronic reports).
  • Position requires the ability to lift 10-50lbs, unassisted.
  • Majority of the work day is performed while standing, walking, lifting, pulling, and pushing.
  • Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
  • Some exposure to hazardous chemical and other active chemical ingredients.
