Position Overview: Lead Infrastructure Automation Engineer

We are seeking a Lead Infrastructure Automation Engineer to join our Core Infrastructure team. In this role, you will contribute to a premier platform that supports developers in expanding Adyen's operations. Our infrastructure is a distributed system characterized by high performance and stringent security standards. Your key responsibilities will include the development and maintenance of CI/CD solutions within a complex environment. You will be instrumental in creating, refining, and enhancing our custom CI system, effectively linking code and infrastructure. As a cohesive team, we deliver CI/CD "as-a-service" across the organization.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate possesses a robust background in Linux and extensive systems experience. You have a proven track record in building containers and Linux packages. Familiarity with the Software Development Lifecycle and proficiency in version control systems like git are essential. You are passionate about automating workflows and promoting CI/CD practices throughout the organization. Crafting pipelines for GitLab CI and Jenkins is second nature to you. You prefer a programmatic approach, utilizing Configuration Management and Infrastructure as Code methodologies. As a collaborative team player, you welcome constructive feedback and thrive in a dynamic, 24/7 environment. You excel at diagnosing issues and making prompt, informed decisions under pressure. Strong communication skills and a love for teamwork are vital attributes.

Required Skills and Technologies

We expect you to have experience with some of the following technologies and concepts, and a willingness to learn others:

  • Jenkins and GitLab pipelines
  • Containerization (Hashicorp ecosystem and Kubernetes)
  • Artifact and code storage solutions
  • Linux, Apache, Tomcat, firewalls, network security protocols, databases, UNIX-related network services, TCP/IP networking, DNS, HTTP(s)
  • System configuration and administration, load balancing, scaling, monitoring, understanding of Linux kernel primitives (namespaces, capabilities, cgroups, etc.), core operating systems including network setup and maintenance, network security, and distributed file systems
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language and familiarity with bash scripting
