Inventory Clerk/Parts Picker

The Inventory Clerk/Parts Picker is responsible for selecting and gathering parts or products from inventory based on customer orders or production requirements while keeping accurate records of part pulls for production.
This role is critical to supporting the assembly line and meeting production goals. Accuracy and speed will be paramount in this position. The job involves ensuring the accurate selection and preparation of parts for assembly. The position is critical in ensuring smooth operations and preventing stock shortages by transacting correctly. This role also helps prevent quality returns from picking items for assembly incorrectly.Duties/Responsibilities:
Accurately select parts or products from inventory based on order sheets, pick lists, or system instructions.
Ensure all selected parts are correct in quantity, condition, and meet any special customer specifications.
Assist with stock counts and replenishments.
Report low stock levels or discrepancies in inventory to supervisors.
Maintain the organization of stock locations to facilitate quick and easy part selection.
Inspect parts for damage, defects, or wear before packaging.
Operate handheld scanners, computers, or other inventory management systems to record the picking process.
Update inventory records in real-time through the use of an ERP system.
Work closely with production teams and materials stocking departments to ensure timely and accurate order picking as well as proper stocking procedures.
Required Skills/Abilities:
High Attention to Detail:
Precision in picking and packing parts is essential to ensure customer satisfaction and minimize errors.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to lift and carry parts or products, sometimes weighing up to 50 lbs. Standing, bending, and walking for extended periods is required.
Basic Computer Skills:
Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic computer operations is often needed.
Communication Skills:
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Organization:
Strong organizational skills to ensure efficient order fulfillment and inventory management.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in inventory control/stockroom management and parts picking experience.
Familiarity with stocking procedures and best practices.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment where transactional discipline in an ERP system is paramount to successful picking.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, feel/reach with hands/arms, and talk to hear.
The employee frequently is required to sit and walk.The employee is occasionally required to bend and stop, push and pull, reach above shoulder level, kneel, squat, or crouch.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job to include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
