Position Summary:The Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring equipment reliability through prompt and thorough troubleshooting and repairs. This position involves the upkeep and repair of all production machinery, including injection molders, thermoforming machines, extruders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, and stretch wrappers. Additionally, the Maintenance Technician addresses issues related to facilities and auxiliary equipment, such as chillers and air compressors.
In collaboration with Machine Operators, Supervisors, and Senior Technicians, you will tackle mechanical challenges that arise during operations and suggest solutions for complex and recurring issues.
Key Responsibilities:- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems utilizing schematics, technical drawings, and testing tools.
- Repair machinery, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other facility equipment.
- Modify, lubricate, diagnose, and operate equipment in line with QuantumPoly's established protocols.
- Maintain industrial control systems specific to plastic packaging production.
- Work independently and collaboratively with team members to execute repairs safely and efficiently.
- Assist Production Operators as necessary.
- Document repairs throughout shifts, completing required work order paperwork and tracking parts and material usage.
- Adhere to plant safety regulations, including safe lifting practices and machine operation protocols.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance to ensure equipment and facility uptime.
Minimum Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in a similar maintenance role, ideally within plastic manufacturing or food packaging.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics: electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic.
- Skilled in the use of shop equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinders, drill presses, and various power tools.
- Proficient with precision measuring instruments, including calipers, dial indicators, and depth gauges.
- Willingness to take on a technical leadership role and provide training within specific areas of the facility.
- Must possess a personal toolbox and basic tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in plastic manufacturing or food packaging industries.
- Familiarity with technologies such as Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), servo drives, and servo motors.
- Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, or plastics processing.
- Experience with injection molding, thermoforming, and extrusion equipment.
- Understanding of HVAC systems, including chillers and air compressors.
- Competence in fabrication techniques such as cutting and welding (MIG, TIG, or stick).
- Experience working with electrical systems, including 480VAC & 24VDC power.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics for process and instrumentation diagrams.
- Experience with PLC systems and automation in packaging lines.
- Required: High School Diploma
- Preferred: Associate's Degree in manufacturing technology, mechatronics, plastics engineering, or a related field.
