Job Title: Family Service Case Aide

Job Summary:

The Family Service Case Aide will provide essential services to strengthen the family's ability to provide a safe, nurturing home environment for children in maintaining them in their own home or the home of a relative. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of child development issues, child and family behaviors, and corrective interventions.

Responsibilities:

  • Arrange and supervise visits between children and their parents or relatives
  • Assist case workers in arranging and providing needed services
  • Provide parent education and coaching
  • Conduct home visits and provide other similar services as outlined in the family's Individualized Service Plan (ISP)
  • Transport family members to various locations, such as the laundry, pharmacy, physician, and utility companies
  • Coach and model caregivers in domestic chores, such as cleaning, meal preparation, and household management
  • Support and advocate for children's educational success and encourage school attendance
  • Provide family support in other areas, as directed by the family's ISP
  • Attend and participate in ISP and Individualized Educational Program (IEP) meetings and court hearings
  • Supervise, model appropriate parenting skills, and provide feedback during visits
  • Transport children to and from placements, other than initial placements
  • Attend medical or other appointments with the child and/or family
  • Provide specific information and feedback in narrative form to DHR case worker staff regarding family dynamics, child safety, medical, and other relevant information

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Able to read and write
  • Working knowledge of basic tasks of housekeeping and household management
  • Basic understanding of child development issues, child and family behaviors, and corrective interventions
  • Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions
  • Ability to demonstrate emotional maturity in respecting confidentiality and showing a respectful attitude toward families
  • Good health, able to lift minimum 25 lbs., bend, stoop, sit, stand, or drive for long periods
  • Reliable automobile with current tag, valid driver's license, and proof of liability insurance
  • Ability to maintain statistical records and write narrative accounts of services provided
  • Able to work independently on an established schedule
  • Complete a 90-day probationary period
  • May not be related or have a pre-existing relationship to the family for whom services are being provided
  • FBI, ABI, and CAN Central Registry Clearances
  • Follow TCR/DHR Office Policies and Procedures, including dress code
  • Good attendance and punctuality
  • Minimum age 21 years
  • Willing to report child abuse and neglect and participate in any investigation of compliance
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with entities such as education, medical professionals, social work staff, etc.
  • Abide by all confidentiality and HIPAA compliance agreements
  • Articulation skills to participate effectively in meetings, such as ISP's, etc.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with clients and families by providing services without becoming personally involved
