Medical Technologist

As a Medical Technologist, you'll play a vital role in our mission by performing a wide range of laboratory testing, from pre-analytic to post-analytic processes. Your expertise will ensure the accuracy of test results, and you'll work closely with patients, families, and healthcare providers to address their concerns and needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and analyze blood, urine, tissue, and other specimens using manual or automated methods.
- Perform waived, moderately complex, and high-complexity testing, maintaining competency in microbiology and blood transfusion as needed.
- Apply critical thinking to ensure quality outcomes meet regulatory agency requirements, including CLIA, CAP, and Joint Commission standards.
- Recognize and communicate deviations in technical, quality of specimen, or quality control processes, taking action and escalating as necessary.
- Report lab results electronically, verbally, and through written documentation, accurately documenting quality control processes and quality assurance.
- Ensure the highest standard of quality, per regulations, and sign off on moderate complexity testing competency assessments for lab team members.
- Perform complex processes, including collecting bone marrow, processing and staining pathology frozen specimens, and resulting moderately complex testing.
- Obtain specimens from inpatients and outpatients, following proper identification protocols and techniques to maintain specimen integrity.
- Provide training for new lab and non-lab team members to retain top talent.
- Maintain supplies and assist with inventory and ordering to ensure the availability of supplies for patient care responsibilities.
- Bachelor's degree in an accredited program.
- American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) - Medical Technologist (MT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) certification.
- License required within 6 months of hire.
- Ability to move freely and lift up to 25 pounds without assistance.
- Exposure to blood-borne pathogens, chemicals, and biohazardous materials.
- Medical setting with high risk of exposure to blood and body fluids, chemicals, and biohazardous materials.
- Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments.
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
- Occasional contact with aggressive and/or combative patients.
- Use of computers throughout the workday.
- Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers.
