Job Description Summary
As an Environmental Services Worker, you will be accountable for meticulous cleaning in accordance with the Association of Physical Plant Administrators (APPA) Standards, specifically Levels One to Three of Five. Your responsibilities will encompass all restrooms, offices, classrooms, conference areas, lecture halls, meeting spaces, copy rooms, break rooms, stairways, hallways, corridors, and exterior entrances, extending ten feet outward.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
- Service hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and weekends from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
- A minimum of six months of relevant experience in housekeeping, custodial, or environmental maintenance is necessary.
- Familiarity with Office 365 for the Web is advantageous for applicants.
CRITERIA: The following criteria will be utilized to evaluate applications from individuals who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select qualified candidates for interviews. A Resume/CV and cover letter are required with the application, and candidates should ensure their documents address the criteria listed below for this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Dusts, cleans, and maintains all office, classroom, and other furniture, ensuring appropriate room arrangements for required use. Empties and maintains trash, recycling, and other receptacles daily or as needed.
- Performs sweeping, mopping, stripping, scrubbing, sealing, finishing, refinishing, buffing, and burnishing of floors, stairwells, and baseboards as required to uphold cleanliness standards.
- Identifies stains for removal and informs the supervisor if stains cannot be safely removed during the shift. Cleans and treats walls, baseboards, windows, blinds, and various campus equipment to maintain cleanliness standards.
- Conducts cleaning and sanitizing services before and after classes in classrooms, laboratories, and meeting rooms, adhering to cleanliness standards established by the Division.
- Performs related tasks as necessary.
- Proficient in using custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, and buffers.
- Skilled in disinfecting and sanitizing contact surfaces, including restrooms and hard floor surfaces.
- Experienced in safely using cleaning chemicals and products.
- Able to perform both hard and soft surface floor care.
- Capable of standing for extended periods and lifting a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and climb ladders as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with others. Physical capability to operate office equipment is required.
