About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Architect to join our team at Burns & McDonnell. As a Senior Architect, you will be responsible for leading project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on commercial aviation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Lead project teams to deliver high-quality designs that meet client needs and expectations.
  • Design Development: Develop, modify, and review production drawings for airports, ensuring compliance with project, client, and industry standards.
  • Project Management: Participate in the development of project schedules, scopes, budgets, and staffing plans, and ensure effective management of change orders.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply expert knowledge of architectural concepts, practices, codes, and procedures to complex projects, finding and developing non-standard design solutions.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct quality reviews of production drawings and specifications to ensure design compliance and constructability.
  • Construction Administration: Coordinate with field personnel to resolve design-related installation issues, calculations, field inspections, and testing of materials.
  • Field Inspections: Lead field inspections, installation, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
  • Reporting and Communication: Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications, and ensure effective communication with other architectural teams.
  • Leadership and Mentoring: Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced architects, and mentor and guide them in their professional development.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Architecture degree from an accredited program.
  • Experience: 8 years of architectural experience, consulting preferred, with a strong background in aviation experience.
  • Registration: Registered Architect preferred.
  • Skills: Expert knowledge in standard architectural techniques and procedures, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong computer skills, including BIM (Revit), Adobe Suites, and 3D rendering programs.
  • Personal Qualities: Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment, demonstrated critical thinking skills, and strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $130,000-185,000, and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
