Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ensures the pharmacy is clean and well-organized, including restocking shelves, cleaning equipment, and maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
  • Assists pharmacists and technicians with various tasks, such as filling prescriptions, processing payments, and answering phone calls.
  • Orders and receives inventory, including medications, supplies, and equipment, and ensures that all items are properly stored and secured.
  • Reviews and processes prescriptions, including verifying patient information, checking for errors, and communicating with patients and healthcare providers as needed.
  • Participates in ongoing training and education to stay up-to-date on pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Works collaboratively with the pharmacy team to achieve departmental goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; prior experience in a pharmacy or retail environment preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitasking and prioritizing tasks as needed.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and colleagues.
  • Basic math skills and accuracy in handling cash and credit transactions.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and stand for long periods, with frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.

Working Conditions:

This position is exposed to noise on a daily basis and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with significant pressure. The pharmacy is a clean and well-organized environment, with occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals/solvents while compounding products and chemotherapy drugs.

Equipment Used:

PC with pharmacy software and printer, cash register, pharmacy balance, scanner, calculator, telephone, fax, and copier.

Confidentiality:

Maintains the confidentiality of patient medical information and adheres to all HIPAA regulations.

Contacts:

Deals with the general public on a daily basis, works with suppliers/vendors monthly.
