Job Overview

As a Logistics Planning Specialist at Hirschbach Motor Lines, your primary responsibility will be to manage freight operations in alignment with both customer and carrier requirements while prioritizing the interests of Hirschbach. You will effectively match available trucks with freight to maintain an optimal balance.


Work Schedule:
Friday to Monday, either 7 AM - 7 PM or 6 AM - 6 PM, or Friday to Sunday, either 7 AM - 7 PM or 6 AM - 6 PM.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Organize freight and equipment within designated regions or accounts to maximize utilization and profitability.
  • Pre-plan freight to ensure timely pick-up and delivery.
  • Communicate and coordinate all assigned driver freight to meet customer and carrier specifications.
  • Oversee the management of the trailer pool.
  • Book freight within the customer base or geographic area to ensure a balanced availability of freight and trucks.
  • Ensure all drivers are scheduled before they complete their current dispatch.
  • Collaborate with Driver Managers to synchronize Hirschbach operators' scheduled home time, downtime, current status, and anticipated availability.
  • Foster and maintain positive professional relationships with Hirschbach operators, team members, and customers.
  • Address any potential routing issues that may impact service quality.
  • Confirm that T-Called loads are planned for on-time delivery.
  • Develop action plans to enhance lane profitability and service metrics, updating them with any concerns or delays.
  • Participate in customer-related meetings and occasionally travel to customer sites and terminal locations.
  • Perform additional duties as required, including proactively assisting colleagues in achieving organizational goals.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, along with relevant professional experience.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong ability to process information accurately and efficiently.
  • Capability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficient in computer usage and adept at navigating multiple software programs.
  • Exhibits a proactive attitude and a strong desire to learn in a dynamic and demanding environment.
