Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Atlas Technical Consultants is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Sharonville, OH team. As a key member of our geotechnical engineering division, you will play a critical role in providing expert technical guidance and leading geotechnical design, investigation, and analysis for various projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage projects, resources, and staff while providing technical guidance in geotechnical engineering.
  • Lead geotechnical design, investigation, and analysis for buildings and infrastructure projects.
  • Direct and supervise subsurface explorations, laboratory testing, geotechnical data interpretation, and geotechnical instrumentation monitoring programs.
  • Supervise and lead geotechnical design and analysis for shallow and deep foundations, earthworks recommendations, slope stability and seepage analyses, lateral earth pressure calculations, and other pertinent analyses.
  • Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and governmental personnel to ensure comprehensive geotechnical concerns are addressed.
  • Mentor and train junior geotechnical engineers and foster their professional development.
  • Provide support for business development activities by fostering and maintaining long-term client relationships and developing a client base for providing high-level geotechnical engineering services.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering practice with an emphasis on geotechnical design and analysis, geotechnical field investigation, and construction supervision.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Ohio (and/or Indiana, Michigan, or Kentucky).
  • Local experience and familiarity with the local engineering practice.
Technical Requirements:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working.
  • Extensive geotechnical background including a strong fundamental knowledge of principles of geotechnical engineering, soil and rock mechanics, earthquake engineering, pavement engineering, and groundwater hydrology.
  • Experience in construction oversight for foundation and pavement construction and earthwork observation.
  • Experience with geotechnical engineering software.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, FHWA, and IBC standards, guidelines, and deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead geotechnical projects and manage teams of geologists and geotechnical engineers.
