Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Architecture is required.
- A valid license to practice architecture in Florida as per Chapter 481, Florida Statutes.
- Proficient understanding of the International and Florida Building Codes with the capability to interpret them accurately.
- Competence in developing cost estimates and interpreting architectural and engineering documents.
- Familiarity with construction methodologies and materials.
- Willingness to travel for training and site inspections.

Preferences:
- At least four (4) years of experience in the architecture and/or construction sector.
- Meeting the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards for Historic Architecture is preferred.
- Ability to communicate technical architectural and construction recommendations effectively to non-technical personnel and project managers, both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation.
- Familiarity with the federal Historic Preservation Tax Incentives Program.
- Experience with AutoCAD or Revit software.
- Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and ArcView software.
- Understanding of LEED standards and sustainability practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide architectural guidance and support within the Division of Historical Resources, offering technical assistance and consultation to various agencies and individuals regarding preservation, restoration, and rehabilitation projects.
- Participate in the design and plans review of facilities and structures, including inspecting and assessing the physical condition to determine necessary actions for maintenance or improvement.
- Evaluate architectural designs and construction documents to ensure adherence to sound preservation and design principles.
- Review applications for the Historic Preservation Grant Program, prepare summaries, and present recommendations during public hearings.
- Offer technical support to firms involved in developing architectural and contract documents for preservation initiatives.
- Conduct site inspections and training sessions as required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods and materials, the Federal Historic Preservation Tax Incentives Program, Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation, and the relevant building codes.
- Ability to develop cost estimates, interpret architectural and engineering documents, and effectively communicate technical recommendations to diverse audiences.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS:
A Level 2 criminal background check is mandatory for employment. Fingerprints will be required if selected for this position.
