We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Physician specializing in either General Neurology or Behavioral Neurology within the USC Brain Health Network. This initiative is dedicated to enhancing the care and support for individuals facing cognitive challenges throughout South Carolina.
Position Summary:
The Neurologist will be a crucial contributor to delivering exceptional clinical services for patients with cognitive and behavioral concerns as part of the USC Brain Health Network. This role also offers the chance to engage in clinical research and to provide education and mentorship to medical students, residents, and fellows. The Neurologist will work closely with Prisma Health, the largest healthcare provider in South Carolina, and will play a significant role in clinical education within the Department of Neurology.
Key Responsibilities:
The Neurologist will be an essential member of the clinical team, focusing on patients referred to the USC Brain Health Network. Responsibilities include:Providing direct patient careConducting cognitive assessmentsFormulating cognitive care strategiesConsulting with primary care providers to enhance ongoing patient management
Additionally, the Neurologist will cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with all BHN partner clinicians and sites, fostering knowledge exchange and joint problem-solving to ensure community needs are met effectively. The role also includes teaching and collaborating with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as supporting neuroscience research initiatives within the University of South Carolina and the School of Medicine.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must be board certified or board eligible in Neurology and demonstrate a commitment to high-quality, patient-centered clinical care. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in dementia and related cognitive disorders, as well as those with ongoing research that has garnered peer-reviewed funding and publication in esteemed journals, although this is not a mandatory requirement for the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in dementia and related cognitive disorders is preferred. Candidates with a track record of research that has received peer-reviewed funding and published in high-impact journals will be given special consideration, though this is not a strict requirement.
