Job Description

Job Title: Youth Development Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Youth Development Specialist to join our team at Mount Prospect Academy. As a key member of our residential care team, you will play a vital role in providing guidance and support to at-risk youth, helping them to develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive in a residential setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Supervision and Mentorship: Provide individualized supervision and mentorship to residents, including role modeling appropriate behavior, redirection, and crisis management.
  • Implement Social/Recreational Activities: Develop and implement social and recreational activities that promote positive relationships, social skills, and emotional well-being.
  • Deliver Direct Services: Provide direct services to residents, including daily living skills, meal preparation, hygiene practices, and recreational activities.
  • Refine Social Skills: Refine residents' social skills, interpersonal skills, and coping mechanisms through the development of respectful and positive relationships.
  • Establish Rapport: Establish rapport with residents while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Document Services: Professionally document service delivery and behavior-related incidents in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Education: Associate or bachelor's degree or 60 college credits.
  • Experience: 2 years of full-time experience working with children or any combination of credits in human services and experience with children that totals 2 years.
  • Other Requirements: Valid driver's license required and 21+ years of age.
