Title: Lecturer in History Education

Salary Range: RM5,855.00 to RM12, depending on qualifications and experience

Role and Responsibilities

The appointed individual will be a key member of the academic staff within the designated Kulliyyah/Centre/Department, undertaking teaching, assessment, and research responsibilities alongside other typical academic duties. The individual is expected to fulfill moral and ethical obligations towards colleagues and students, actively participating in the academic community.

Key Duties Include:

  • Delivering engaging lectures and tutorials in History Education to a diverse student body.
  • Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students in both Arabic and English.
  • Collaborating effectively with colleagues from various cultural backgrounds.
  • Designing and implementing curricula and course materials aligned with institutional frameworks.
  • Engaging in research activities, including writing academic papers and proposals.
  • Participating in institutional meetings, conferences, and events.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates should possess a Bachelor of Education in History or a related field, along with a Diploma in Education. A Master’s degree and Ph.D. in relevant educational disciplines from recognized institutions are preferred. A minimum of two years of teaching experience in local or international educational settings is required. A background in research and published works will be considered advantageous.

Additional Requirements

Preferred candidates should be between the ages of 30 to 45 years. Proficiency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of Arabic is an added advantage. Familiarity with Islamic history, philosophy, and education will be beneficial. Teaching experience in schools for at least 1-2 years is also a plus.

Language Proficiency

All candidates must have achieved:

  • Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language at the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or equivalent.
  • IELTS Band 7 / MUET Band 4. Candidates lacking these qualifications will need to take the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
