Chief Nursing Officer

Serves as a key liaison between nursing departments and administration, ensuring seamless collaboration and effective problem-solving in the absence of management.
Key Responsibilities:- Makes regular rounds to support nursing staff and help resolve issues by coaching and mentoring Charge Nurses and RNs.
- Works with Resource Staffing Department to stabilize core staffing levels throughout the hospital.
- Collaborates with Customer Service Department to address customer service-related issues involving Nursing.
- Responds to and manages patient/family and physician complaints, resolving immediate issues and documenting incidents for follow-up.
- Coordinates bed management/diversion issues with Administrator on call, Nursing Leadership, and Patient Placement Coordinators.
- Reviews all deaths for Medical Examiner/Coroner if necessary and ensures death certificates are complete.
- Assists Employee Health and Infection Control in enforcing policies and procedures regarding patients and staff.
- Serves as Planning Chief and temporary Incident Commander in the event of a disaster, initiating the disaster beeper alert system.
- Collaborates with Security on miscellaneous issues and works with Plant Operations and Engineering on facility issues.
- Acts as a resource and support to Nursing Management regarding policies and procedures.
Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. 3 years of Nursing experience required; 5 years preferred. Current South Carolina R.N. License required.
