Job Overview:

The primary goal is to empower every student with the self-assurance, bravery, and skills necessary to fulfill their aspirations; contribute positively to the community; and engage in lifelong learning through the execution of tasks related to the upkeep and management of school facilities, equipment, and grounds.

Key Responsibilities:


- Communicate work directives from the Building Operations Supervisor and other management to custodial staff.

- Execute general cleaning duties, including dust mopping and wet mopping of classrooms, restrooms, and hallways, as well as cleaning restrooms, stripping and sealing floors, washing windows, walls, and lockers; vacuuming all carpeted areas in accordance with established cleaning standards.

- Conduct minor repairs in carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing as needed, including cleaning equipment and maintaining ceilings and floor coverings.

- Assist kitchen staff by mopping floors and managing grocery deliveries and stock supplies.

- Monitor and adjust building automation systems, and report any vandalism or unauthorized access.

- Secure the facility by managing the security system.

- Maintain the grounds, including watering, mowing, trimming, and removing debris.

- Handle snow removal and ensure sidewalks are safe.

- Oversee all physical operations of the assigned building.

- Report equipment malfunctions to the Maintenance Services Coordinator.

- Maintain and submit necessary reports and logs promptly.

- Paint and maintain district facilities as required.

- Operate and maintain the boiler system, ensuring it functions correctly.

- Serve as the evening contact for community education facility use and assist with public needs.

- Set up and dismantle equipment for events.

- Provide excellent customer service to facility users.

- Perform other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- MN Second Class C boiler license upon hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in computer use, including email communication.
- Understanding of building automation systems.
- Knowledge of safety precautions relevant to the trade.
- Familiarity with cleaning techniques and materials.
- Ability to care for and repair facilities and equipment.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Capability to respond to student, staff, and community needs effectively.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in cleaning and maintaining commercial facilities is desirable.
- MN First Class C boiler license is preferred.

Compensation:
- Salary information is available in the Custodial Contract Agreement.

Employment Type:
- Full-time, school year position.
