Job Title: Water Resources Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Water Resources Design Engineer to join our team at Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson. As a key member of our Water Resources discipline, you will be responsible for designing and developing water resources engineering projects for a variety of clients and project types.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop drainage design and stormwater management plans in accordance with client specifications and guidelines
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, and other topographical data to plan projects
  • Conduct watershed studies and hydrologic & hydraulic analysis
  • Assist in the preparation of Contract Documents, including Plans, Specifications, and Cost Estimates
  • Collaborate with engineers across other disciplines to perform daily duties
  • Mentor less experienced engineers
  • Coordinate with contractors, outside consultants, government agencies, and JMT staff from multiple locations and technical disciplines
Requirements:
  • Knowledge and design experience in linear drainage, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control design
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation OpenROADS
  • Ability to progress designs with multiple concurrent projects
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including Microsoft Office products
  • Demonstrate time management while providing a quality deliverable within budget
Preferred Qualifications:
  • South Carolina registered Professional Engineer
  • 2D Hydraulic Modeling Experience
Working Conditions:

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
