Job Overview

Sampson Regional Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technical Specialist to lead the Laboratory team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day technical operations of the laboratory section, ensuring compliance with hospital and department policies and standards.
  • Play a key role in strategic planning and the implementation of initiatives focused on enhanced performance, workflow redesign, and developing a culture that emphasizes excellence in laboratory services.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to provide training and guidance on laboratory procedures and protocols.
  • Monitor and report on laboratory performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology/Laboratory Science or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • 12 months of clinical laboratory education and training.
  • National certification with ASCP or AMT is required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • 2 years of training/experience in moderate complexity areas.
  • 4 years of training/experience in high complexity testing for Microbiology and Blood Bank, with at least 6 months of training/experience specifically in Bacteriology.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time, day shift position working 8-hour shifts. May be required to work other hours for the effective operation of the department.
