We are seeking a highly skilled Machinist/Set-Up Operator to join our team at Horst Engineering & Manufacturing Co. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC machining and setup operations, with a focus on precision grinding and milling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate pinch/peel grinders, milling machines, and laser markers to produce high-precision parts.
  • Work from blueprints, operation sheets, travelers, and specifications to ensure accurate production.
  • Conduct quality inspections and verify dimensional accuracy using measuring instruments.
  • Assist other operators with setup and production issues, and provide training as needed.
  • Maintain equipment and work areas, and perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Interact with other departments, including Planning, Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Shipping/Receiving/Materials.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three to five years of experience in machine shop or CNC machining environment, with a focus on precision grinding and milling.
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately and efficiently, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and write comments, understand operation sheets/blueprints, specifications, and all applicable Company/Customer paperwork.
  • Ability to read and edit CNC programs.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit/stand for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to walk long distances through the building.
  • Ability to push/pull/carry/lift up to 50 lbs.
