Procurement Specialist

Position Overview
The Procurement Specialist is accountable for acquiring products, goods, and materials that align with the organization's standards for pricing, quality, timing, and reliability of supply.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct procurement activities to fulfill the organization's current and projected needs for products and materials.
- Evaluate and endorse inventory forecasts generated by the GAINS application.
- Review and approve daily replenishment suggestions from the GAINS application.
- Analyze existing orders to determine actions for expediting or delaying deliveries for optimal outcomes.
- Initiate purchase requisitions and vendor orders.
- Oversee the quality and punctuality of supplied products and materials; may facilitate the return of defective goods or arrange for replacements.
- Negotiate and manage vendor returns for outdated, expired, or surplus inventory; coordinate other liquidation efforts as necessary.
- Follow up on purchase order statuses with vendors to ensure timely deliveries and communicate updates to internal and external stakeholders.
- Engage with vendors to address issues related to delivery timelines and product quality.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and both internal and external customers.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in accounts payable with suppliers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Finance) or equivalent experience. A minimum of 1 year of experience in Procurement is preferred.
- CPM certification is preferred.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Proficient in computer applications and willing to learn Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Inventory Management systems.
- Mathematical skills for basic calculations.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated organizational and execution skills.
- Proficient in MS Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

- Experience as a storeroom attendant.
