Fraser Shipyards Inc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Technician to join our team. As a key member of our safety team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the environment.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and implement safety training programs for employees and contractors.
- Collaborate with management and employees to promote a safety-focused culture and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Conduct job hazard analyses and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans.
- Provide support for customer safety initiatives and maintain compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (safety, industrial health, etc.)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a safety-related role
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
- Physical ability to work in a shipyard environment, including confined spaces and inclement weather
