Senior Finance Administrator

About the Role: San Diego Community Power is looking for a Senior Finance Administrator to oversee the management of energy efficiency programs funded by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). This position will work closely with the Finance and Customer Programs Departments to manage accounting tasks related to CPUC grant oversight, including the creation of invoicing templates and processes, as well as financial monitoring and reporting.

The Senior Finance Administrator will ensure the precision, thoroughness, and regulatory compliance of financial documentation; perform monthly ledger reconciliations; gather, assess, and report financial data; and assist with budgetary functions.

This role will report directly to the Director of Finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement standard operating procedures while collaborating with internal teams, external partners, and vendors for invoice preparation and submission.
  • Oversee the accounting functions related to CPUC grant management to ensure adherence to funding guidelines.
  • Validate program expenditures and resolve any discrepancies that arise.
  • Exercise sound judgment in managing financial and operational risks.
  • Implement and uphold necessary processes to comply with organizational policies.
  • Provide training on invoice preparation and submission, including guidance on appropriate cost category allocations.
  • Coordinate with external entities to ensure timely receipt of grant funds.
  • Maintain a budget tracker for grant allocations.
  • Assist the Programs Department in compiling financial information for regular reporting to the CPUC.
  • Develop and execute systems for the collection, analysis, verification, and reporting of financial data.
  • Work independently, demonstrating initiative and good judgment in completing assignments and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least seven (7) years of experience in finance or accounting is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of direct experience with CPUC-funded energy efficiency programs is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to lead and supervise effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to propose solutions.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

A combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge and skills. A typical qualification would include:

A four-year degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant professional experience, including five (5) years in finance or accounting with experience in CPUC-funded programs.

Alternatively, four (4) additional years of professional experience may substitute for a degree. A master's degree may replace one year of professional experience.

Work Environment & Conditions

This position involves prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer. It may require occasional lifting of objects up to 25 pounds and local travel for meetings and events.

Compensation:

Salary Range: The salary for this position ranges from $117,800 to $159,000, with final compensation determined based on experience.
