Position Overview:
The Language Enrichment Facilitator will deliver direct leadership, instruction, and encouragement to participants in the Expanded Learning Opportunity (ELO) classes. This position aims to provide an enriching experience for elementary school students enrolled in this afterschool initiative, utilizing diverse instructional methods and activities.
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop lesson plans that follow a natural progression suitable for the age and capabilities of the students, with guidance from YMCA experts as necessary.
- Participate in program training alongside site staff to prepare for each session.
- Deliver instruction in designated programming areas based on expertise and supervisor direction (e.g., Creative Arts, Youth Activities, Gymnastics, Chess, etc.).
- Conduct introductory foreign language sessions twice weekly for elementary-aged children.
- Plan, lead, and support group activities.
- Uphold all safety regulations.
- Implement the provided Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum.
- Ensure all necessary equipment and materials are available and well-maintained throughout the program.
- Adhere to all relevant regulations and requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and participant progress during each session.
- Communicate effectively with parents and supervisors regarding participant performance.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Preferred experience of six months or more in a related field.
- Bilingual proficiency is required (English at a professional level and an additional language at a minimum elementary level).
- Possess a positive attitude and experience working with children and diverse populations.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills in the relevant instructional area and the ability to teach age-appropriate techniques.
- Willingness to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on the first day, along with other required training.
Work Schedule: Part-Time, up to 25 hours per week.
