Role Purpose

The Manufacturing Supervisor I is accountable for overseeing and mentoring operational staff in the production of clinical or commercial goods. This role collaborates closely with fellow supervisors to ensure efficient production processes. Key responsibilities include the accurate and timely completion of production-related cGMP documentation and facilitating the planning, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish weekly objectives and schedules, prioritizing tasks for team members. Analyze the weekly production agenda to allocate unit assignments and identify critical actions.
  • Review all necessary materials and batch records to support daily production needs.
  • Provide on-the-job training to reinforce formal technical and GMP training, ensuring operator training files align with required processes.
  • Monitor and update operator training documentation in collaboration with compliance specialists.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Subject Matter Experts to address any discrepancies. Evaluate new batch records and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Engage with the technology transfer team to integrate new processes into the manufacturing plant. Work across departments to resolve issues related to work orders, dispensing, preventative maintenance, quality control, and documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to direct materials and overtime budgets.
  • Supervise primarily skilled nonexempt and junior exempt employees, acting as an advisor and mentor while evaluating staff performance.
  • Guarantee compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA's Process Safety Management standards and EPA's Risk Management Planning rules.
  • Foster a safety-first culture by guiding efforts to minimize operational injuries, product loss, and unnecessary costs through the maintenance of equipment and facilities according to AbbVie’s standards.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required; a minimum of eight years in manufacturing or production processes is preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and scheduling is essential, along with strong writing skills.
  • A solid understanding of safety protocols, quality systems, and cGMP regulations is necessary.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation systems, including distributed control and PLC-based systems, is advantageous.
  • Experience with equipment and facilities validation is preferred.
