Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Associate to join our team at New York City Health + Hospitals Correctional Health Services. As a Patient Care Associate, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in a correctional setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Telehealth encounters as needed and assist with patient hygiene, including skin care, mouth care, and shaving.
  • Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding as needed.
  • Assist with unit patient admissions and transfers.
  • Perform EKGs as required and follow outlined procedures for submitting abnormal EKGs.
  • Perform dry sterile dressing changes and assist with other patient treatment.
  • Perform blood draws and urine testing.
  • Collaborate with the pharmacy to replenish supplies.
  • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds and stand for extended periods.

Requirements:

  • A four-year high school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Successful completion of a NYS Department of Health prescribed training program for Phlebotomy, satisfactory to the Laboratory Director.
  • Completion of a health care setting-based training program in the performance of electrocardiographs and basic life support procedures including certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation.

Special Note:

In addition to meeting the qualifications above, assignment to a long-term care facility requires a New York State Nurse's Aide Certificate.
