Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a qualified Speech Language Pathologist to enhance our skilled nursing facility. In this role, you will assess and treat residents facing communication and swallowing challenges, aiming to elevate their quality of life and functional capabilities. The position requires a commitment of 20 hours per month.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough evaluations of residents' communication and swallowing skills utilizing standardized assessment tools.
- Design and execute personalized treatment plans tailored to assessment findings, resident aspirations, and physician directives.
- Deliver specialized speech therapy services, including articulation therapy, language development, cognitive-communication strategies, and swallowing rehabilitation.
- Track and document resident progress, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and physical therapists, to ensure comprehensive care and optimal resident outcomes.
- Provide education to residents and their families regarding therapy objectives, treatment strategies, and home exercise routines.
- Maintain precise and timely records of speech therapy interventions.
- Engage in team meetings, continuing education, and quality improvement efforts.
- Stay informed about the latest practices in speech therapy and relevant regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Valid license to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist in the respective state.
- At least 2 years of experience in a healthcare environment, ideally within a skilled nursing facility.
- Familiarity with contemporary speech therapy standards and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Capability to work collaboratively within a team setting.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records and healthcare software.
