Radiation Oncology Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a skilled Radiation Oncology Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Summit Recruiting Group. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a highly respected healthcare organization in the heart of Southern Wisconsin.
Job Summary:This position involves providing comprehensive care to patients undergoing radiation therapy, working closely with radiation oncologists and other healthcare professionals. Key responsibilities include conducting patient assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, administering radiation therapy treatments, and educating patients and their families about the radiation therapy process.
Responsibilities:- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history reviews and physical examinations, to determine eligibility and suitability for radiation therapy.
- Collaborate with radiation oncologists to develop personalized treatment plans, taking into account patients' medical conditions, treatment goals, and potential side effects.
- Administer radiation therapy treatments safely and efficiently, prioritizing patient comfort and well-being.
- Monitor patients during radiation therapy sessions, identifying and addressing any adverse reactions or side effects promptly.
- Educate patients and their families about the radiation therapy process, including treatment expectations, potential side effects, and self-care strategies.
- Coordinate with other healthcare professionals, such as medical physicists, radiation therapists, and oncology nurses, to ensure seamless patient care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records, documenting patient information, treatment plans, and interventions.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to radiation oncology nursing practice, staying current with advancements in radiation therapy techniques and research.
- A Master's degree in Nursing or a Doctoral degree.
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
- Prior experience in oncology nursing, preferably in a radiation oncology setting.
- Strong knowledge of radiation therapy principles, techniques, and safety protocols.
- Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with patients and their families.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems and other healthcare software.
- A competitive salary range of $110,000 - $130,000 per year, depending on experience.
