Position Summary:
This role is integral to supporting the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) plays a crucial role in administering anesthesia for various surgical procedures. Responsibilities include conducting pre-anesthesia evaluations, developing anesthesia plans, and delivering anesthesia while collaborating with the surgical team. The CRNA is also responsible for the maintenance and sanitation of anesthesia equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough pre-anesthetic assessments, including physical examinations and patient interviews, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures related to anesthesia administration and management.
- Maintain current, unrestricted licensure as a professional nurse in the United States.
- Achieve certification from the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists, with ongoing recertification as required.
- Hold current ACLS and BLS certifications, with a preference for American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program recognized by relevant accrediting bodies.
- Possess a valid DEA License.
- Be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Relocate to the project site for the contract duration.
- Obtain VA Public Trust Clearance.

- Apply professional nursing principles in patient care.
- Perform comprehensive pre-anesthetic evaluations and gather necessary data.
- Formulate and communicate anesthetic plans, including associated risks and benefits.
- Administer various forms of anesthesia and monitor patient responses effectively.
- React promptly to emergencies, providing necessary interventions and resuscitation as needed.
- Stay updated with advancements in anesthesia practice.
- Collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team to enhance patient care.
- Perform intravenous procedures as required.
Physical Requirements:
Work typically occurs in an office environment, involving prolonged periods of sitting and standing, with occasional bending and lifting of up to 15 lbs.
