Occupational Medicine Billing Specialist

Job Summary:

The Occupational Medicine Billing Specialist is responsible for processing charges, invoices, and receivables for services provided in all UPHDM occupational medicine clinics and for all services provided on-site. This role requires proficiency in using occupational medicine specific billing software, communicating with department management, and providing support and training to new employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assigns and reviews ICD-10, E&M and CPT codes to ensure appropriate, maximum reimbursement.
  • Provides customer service to all clients via telephone, written correspondence, and in person regarding occupational medicine billing procedures.
  • Monitors daily billing activity/productivity (i.e., timeliness of posting of charges/payments).
  • Reviews self-pay and work comp accounts to determine disposition.
  • Completes month-end billing activities including coordinating/organizing invoices for mailing.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency with computers, Microsoft Word, Excel Spreadsheets.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English, easily understood by others.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology (Completion of medical terminology course preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Two years registration, billing, financial counselor, or other health care related experience required.
