Position: Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Mechanic


Objective:

The Ground Service Equipment Mechanic plays a crucial role in the upkeep, examination, and repair of various mechanical apparatus and facilities essential for aviation operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections, maintenance, and repairs on ground service equipment utilized in operational support.
  • Execute all scheduled preventative maintenance tasks for GSE.
  • Independently carry out basic diagnostic and troubleshooting activities using testing tools, relevant manuals, and industry resources.
  • Perform necessary corrective repairs.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, following directives from supervisors or management.
  • Complete documentation related to work assignments.
  • Operate forklifts and towing equipment as required.
  • Ensure proper cleanup of any oil spills post-maintenance.
  • Dispose of used fluids in designated areas.
  • Be prepared to occasionally undertake additional responsibilities not directly related to maintenance, such as aircraft fueling, de-icing, cargo handling, and ground operations.
  • Carry out other assigned tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Ground Service Equipment mechanic.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and work from technical diagrams.
  • Capacity to perform under pressure.
  • Experience in painting and bodywork is preferred.
  • Possession of a personal roll-a-way toolbox meeting minimum tool standards.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2 years of relevant experience; aviation experience is a plus.
  • Must successfully pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening, possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and elevated noise levels typical of an airport environment.

Physical Requirements:

This role involves strenuous lifting and maneuvering of fuel hoses, climbing and standing on ladders to connect fueling hoses overhead, and bending to manipulate hoses and connect aircraft tow bars. Candidates must be able to lift a 70-pound suitcase from the ground to a height of 18 inches and carry it for distances of up to 25 feet. Physical dexterity is essential for performing repetitive tasks, including bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, and twisting, often for extended periods. Adequate vision is necessary to safely execute the essential functions of this position.


Work Environment:

The position is based in an airport setting, encompassing both indoor and outdoor work. Employees may encounter extreme weather conditions and temperature variations.
