Job Title: Global Health Programs Specialist

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is seeking a highly skilled Global Health Programs Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our global health staff, you will provide administrative and programmatic support to our global health initiatives, including providing technical assistance and support to newborn and child health programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead assigned global health projects in collaboration with AAP global health staff, advisory committees, and groups, to develop content curriculum for trainings, workshops, educational materials, and other project deliverables.
  • Synthesize project learnings and successes by supporting data collection activities and draft dissemination materials to share AAP activities with global audiences.
  • Act as liaison for various internal and external global coalitions, listservs, and memberships, representing the global health team on teleconferences and providing updates to the team.
  • Manage assigned newborn course registries and contacts database, facilitating communications and evaluation surveys with implementing partners.
  • Research, write, and develop content and marketing materials for AAP global website, social media accounts, and other project-specific web pages.
  • Respond to key partner and member inquiries related to global health team programs, escalating matters to other staff as needed.
  • Assist in the evaluation of new opportunities to align with global health project implementation with the AAP global strategic plan, supporting development of new grant proposals.
  • Support development, review, and execution of contracts for all assigned team projects, tracking subcontracts to ensure all deliverables and payments are met.
  • Coordinate meeting logistics for assigned planning and committee meetings and events, working closely with AAP global health staff team to coordinate meeting logistics.
  • Work with program staff to track internal deadlines and assist with preparing reports for AAP senior leadership, Board of Directors, sections, and advisory committees.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in public health, health administration, health policy, health education, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.
  • At least two years related public health project coordination/management and implementation experience, including editing/drafting communications and web/social media content, drafting project reports and presentations, and collaborating with external partners.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, project management, critical thinking, and diplomacy skills, with the ability to proactively manage multiple projects simultaneously within tight deadlines.
