Job Summary
Baylor Scott & White Health - Central Texas is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our Sports/Joints Team in Waco/Hillcrest, Texas. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with referring physicians, agencies, and other professionals to deliver exceptional outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients' physical and mental conditions through comprehensive physical examinations and medical histories.
- Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests to inform patient care.
- Prescribe and recommend medical therapies, procedures, and treatments, ensuring efficacy, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop and implement comprehensive patient treatment plans, incorporating evidence-based medicine, standards of care, and professional practice guidelines.
- Counsel patients and families on medical processes, health management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
- Maintain accurate records of patient treatment plans and outcomes, initiating timely consultation and referral when necessary.
- Provide consultation-level services for conditions related to your specialty, level of experience, and training.
- Manage patients in various healthcare settings, including inpatient and emergency services.
- Perform invasive procedures within your scope of practice and level of expertise, as delegated by your supervising physician.
- Follow up with patients pre- and post-operatively, and may round on patients in the hospital or see patients in the Emergency Department.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Less than 1 year of experience.
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of Texas.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
- Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
