Job Title: Director of Academics

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Academics to join our team at The Children's Guild. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for establishing a culture consistent with the tenets of Transformation Education (TranZed) and ensuring the academic programming for our school is of the highest quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers in implementing Transformation Education approaches to learning
  • Participate in the development of compelling topics and learning targets aligned with the core curriculum
  • Support organizational structures and intervention levels for tiered instruction
  • Lead curriculum development projects and design internal writing benchmarks for assessing students' writing
  • Monitor instruction by daily learning walks and model for staff the student assessment protocols
  • Supervise teachers and teacher assistants and provide feedback for professional growth and instructional delivery
  • Assist the principal with data collection of student achievement and monitors accountability plan
  • Design an effective professional learning community and organize staff development schedule and monitor effectiveness of professional development activities
Requirements:
  • A Master's Degree with emphasis on supervision, educational administration, special education, elementary or secondary school curriculum, or a closely related field
  • A minimum of five years of classroom teaching experience and successful completion of classroom observations
  • Experience in working with non-verbal students diagnosed with ASD and experience with students diagnosed with ASD
  • Hold or be eligible for a Maryland teaching certification and MSDE APC Teaching Certificate required
