Job Summary:

This role is responsible for ensuring seamless patient access to medical services by managing billing, insurance, and patient accounts. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet patients, answer phone calls, and provide accurate information while documenting interactions in the electronic medical record.
• Schedule appointments, register patients, and verify demographic data on registration systems.
• Obtain insurance cards, forms of ID, and signatures on required forms, and verify insurance to determine coordination of benefits and obtain authorization and/or referrals as needed.
• Inform self-pay patients of liability due and prepare estimates of procedures, calculate advance payment requirements, and refer potentially eligible patients to financial counseling or contract eligibility vendors.
• Collect patient payments, provide accurate receipts, and post payments in the system, while reconciling receipts and completing required balancing forms.
• Maintain department and/or individual work queues and reports as required, and prepare medical records for patient appointments by compiling information from various sources.

Requirements:

• One year of customer service experience involving interactions with customers in person and by phone.
• Professional manner, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and basic computer skills and data entry.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Work Environment:

This role is based in Grand Junction, Colorado, and requires the ability to interact with others, operate computers and office equipment, and remain sitting or standing for long periods of time. May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
