Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic images for patients undergoing mammography procedures. Under general supervision, you will operate dedicated and specialized mammography radiographic equipment, formulating and calculating techniques to produce diagnostic images of normal and abnormal human breast tissue and associated structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate mammography equipment in a patient care setting to obtain definitive diagnoses for positive findings on mammograms.
  • Select correct technical factors relative to the requirements of the study and the patient's age, body habitus, and pathology.
  • Critique images and make necessary adjustments in technical factors, patient positioning, and other factors to ensure high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Conduct patient interviews to attain full understanding of procedures and obtain consent.
  • Assist with orientation and training of students and other radiologic technologists in all aspects of positioning, compression, exposure factors, film processing, and quality assurance/control.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of and ability to perform required mammography Q.C. functions according to the State of California and Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations.
Requirements
  • Minimum 1 year recent experience as a Radiologic Technologist, including performance of routine mammographic examinations/procedures in an acute care medical center, outpatient breast center, or other FDA-certified facility.
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Mammography Certificate (California) and Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California).
  • Basic Life Support certification and Radiologic Technologist Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of passing the advanced certification examination in Mammography issued by the ARRT (M).
