Position Overview:
An Echocardiography Sonographer is a specialized Diagnostic Medical Sonographer who possesses the necessary credentials and practical experience to deliver diagnostic patient care services utilizing ultrasound technology and associated diagnostic methods.
Scope of Practice:
The responsibilities of a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer encompass the procedures and processes authorized by law, for which the individual has acquired education and clinical experience, demonstrated proficiency, and achieved the requisite ARDMS certification, which is recognized as the benchmark in cardiac ultrasound.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibit the cognitive skills essential for executing comprehensive echocardiographic imaging.
- Demonstrate the technical expertise and capabilities required for conducting thorough echocardiographic examinations.
- Possess knowledge and understanding of the technical prerequisites for Contrast Echocardiography, including LVO Doppler enhancement and MCE shunt evaluation.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
Compensation:
The compensation range for this position is $51.17 per hour.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Candidates must fulfill the educational criteria for Echocardiography Sonographer certification from either CCI or ARDMS; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
Experience:
While no prior experience is mandatory, two years of relevant experience is preferred.
Licensure:
Candidates must obtain RCS or RDCS certification from CCI or RCVT with ARDMS certification within 12 months of employment. Additionally, American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification is required.
Physical Requirements:
This role necessitates prolonged periods of standing, frequent bending or stooping, and occasional travel for outreach clinics. The position also involves overhead reaching, extensive repetitive motion, and manipulation of ultrasound transducers. Candidates should possess proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to write legibly. The role requires the capability to lift, push, or pull up to 100 lbs and may involve exposure to chemicals, radiation, and blood or bodily fluids.
