Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll and Accounting Specialist to join our Finance team at the Center for Immigrant & Refugee Advancement. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing payroll functions, processing expense reimbursements, addressing employee inquiries, and supporting additional accounting needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process payroll bi-weekly, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local payroll and tax laws and regulations.
  • Review and analyze timesheets for accuracy, perform corrections as needed, and maintain accurate payroll records.
  • Calculate and input employee benefit deductions and reimbursements accurately into the payroll system.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including wage laws and tax regulations.
  • Address employee inquiries regarding paychecks and statements, providing excellent customer service.
  • Conduct semi-annual payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare annual reports to evaluate payroll system efficiency and reliability.
  • Process invoices and ensure timely payments, maintaining organized financial records and documentation.
  • Assist with budget tracking and variance analysis, collaborating with the HR department and finance team as needed.
Requirements
  • Minimum 1-3 years of payroll processing experience, with some A/P and bookkeeping experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of wage laws, payroll principles, federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work sensitively and well with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Fluency in using Office 365 applications, with a strong ability to learn new software.
  • Experience using Paycor software is strongly preferred.
