  • Safely transports clients to and from designated locations, adapting to varying weather and traffic conditions.
  • Provides assistance to passengers as required, ensuring a comfortable travel experience.
  • Keeps accurate logs of activities, including mileage and fuel consumption, to maintain operational records.
  • Completes necessary vehicle reports, documenting any issues encountered during operation.
  • Participates in ongoing training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the position.
  • Contributes to team efforts by performing additional job-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Familiarity with the Tohono O'odham culture, traditions, and community practices.
  • Understanding of applicable laws and regulations governing transportation.
  • Knowledge of road rules and signage.
  • Ability to navigate the district roads and routes of the Tohono O'odham Nation.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, with a focus on meeting the needs of clients.
  • Proficient in driving under diverse traffic and weather conditions.
  • Capacity to work flexible hours and adapt to varying schedules.
  • Competence in using basic tools for minor vehicle maintenance.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Capability to work independently while adhering to strict timelines.
  • Willingness to travel within the Tohono O'odham Nation's boundaries.

Minimum Requirements:

A High School Diploma or equivalent, along with six months of driving experience, or a combination of experience that demonstrates the ability to fulfill the job responsibilities.

Licensing and Certifications:

  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination.
  • Required to obtain CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications within the first six months of employment.
  • A criminal background check and motor vehicle record review are mandatory prior to hiring.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, free from DUIs or major traffic violations in the past three years.
  • Compliance with the Tohono O'odham Nation's insurance requirements is necessary for operating program vehicles.
  • Fluency in both the Tohono O'odham Language and English may be required based on departmental needs.
