Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks that support the overall pharmaceutical care provided within the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the comprehensive process of preparing and dispensing medication orders.
- Support the Pharmacist in delivering essential drug information and pharmaceutical care services to patients, healthcare professionals, and hospital staff.
- Engage in patient care across all age groups, from infants to seniors, recognizing and calculating appropriate dosages for various demographics.
- Prepare intravenous solutions and admixtures, adhering strictly to industry standards and regulations.
- Ensure that all pharmaceutical products are sterile, correctly packaged, labeled, stored, and within their expiration dates.
- Maintain accurate records of medications and supplies dispensed, including charge computations and data entry into the pharmacy system.
- Generate and prepare necessary reports and Medication Administration Records (MARs).
- Manage inventory by reordering medications and pharmacy supplies as required.
- Receive and properly store incoming shipments of medications and supplies.
- Contribute to the training and development of new Pharmacy Technicians and staff members.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental performance enhancement activities.
- Monitor pharmacy operations, suggesting improvements to enhance patient safety and minimize medication errors.
- Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy environment.
- Conduct scheduled quality control activities to ensure compliance with standards.
- Complete assigned training tasks within designated timelines.
- Foster a professional and supportive atmosphere within the pharmacy and across departments.
- Undertake additional pharmacy-related tasks as needed.
Minimum Education Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
Licensure Requirements
Pharmacy Technician certification in North Carolina or enrollment in an accredited Pharmacy program with a Pharmacy Intern Registration is required.
